Ethan’s big official first birthday has come and today I am looking back at his first twelve months.
Terry and I can’t believe we have a one year old. As a side note, I also get why parents refer to their child as thirteen months and so forth. I’m not ready to give that up. He’s still a baby and years are too big! I’ll keep crying on with the months and others will just have to do the math! It has been an awesome year with so many firsts and there will be so many more firsts ahead of us. Watching Ethan grow and become this little boy is one of the most amazing things. This past year, Terry and I really got what it meant to be a parent. We have lots of learning ahead us and in no way are we pros. But one thing for sure, is becoming a parent is something uber special. And we are so lucky to have Ethan.
Ethan at 12 Months
This past month, Ethan started daycare. His first day was one hour long, so mama did ok and so did he! I have to say as the duration of his stay at daycare increased it become a bit harder. I missed him! But the good thing, I had some much needed time to myself and got a few things done! Or saw some friends. Both were great! After a few weeks at daycare Ethan was also no longer in tears when I left. He happily greets us when we come to get him and all together he loves being at daycare. He’s quite social. And folks, today he had his first kiss. He totally crawled up to a girl in his class and laid a smooch on her! My heart did break because I missed it but hopefully I will get pictures next time!
As a consequence to starting daycare, Ethan has had one cold after the next. He lost weight and is in the process of putting it back on. During the past month we also got about a week of him sleeping through the night. That was amazing! But at last, his cold came back and now his coughing is waking him up at night. Luckily it is improving so yeh for Ethan and maybe we will be back to full sleep nights again soon. The silver lining to all of this, is he is building a strong immune system. Win.
Ethan loves pulling himself up on everything and is managing a few steps (while holding). Otherwise, he is a very agile army crawler. He can get from point a to point b very quickly.
Ethan had an awesome 1st birthday party with family and friends! He was sick but was a trooper through it all. Post to come on his lumberjack event!
Terry has also made a video of Ethan’s first year. I feel like I need to also make my own version as I also have so many (many) videos and pictures on my phone.
On that note, here are some highlights from Ethan at 12 months.
Ethan’s seventh tooth popped out a few days after turning one!
Here is the video Terry created looking back on his first year.
