It was my mom’s birthday yesterday and Terry and I had my parents over for dinner to celebrate last night. For the occasion, I decided I would make a chocolate cake. I love all american chocolate cake and thought I would give it a try myself. I found this recipe, followed it to a tee and it turned out perfectly. My one tip though, when making the icing (a matter of combining hot whipping cream, butter and chocolate chips together, very fast) rather than using a whisk to blend the ingredients as the recipe suggests, use an immersion blender. Unless you’re a super fast whisker, the immersion blender does the job perfectly. As exemplified below.
